Introduction to Artificial Intelligence - Faculty of Engineering

Artificial Intelligence is one of the fascinating and universal fields of Computer science which has a great scope in the future. Questions arise such as “What is intelligence?”, “How can one measure intelligence?” or “How does the brain work?”. All these questions are meaningful when trying to understand artificial intelligence. Artificial Intelligence is a combination of two words Artificial and Intelligence, where Artificial defines "man-made," and intelligence defines "thinking power", AI means "a man-made thinking power". So, AI is defined as:

Examples: Siri, Alexa, Tesla, Cogito, Boxever, John Paul, Amazon.com, Netflix, Pandora, Nest, and many more.

The AI field draws upon computer science, biology, mathematics, psychology, linguistics, philosophy, neuroscience and etc.

Applications of AI include Natural Language Processing, Gaming, Speech and Handwriting Recognition, Vision Systems, Healthcare, Automotive, Intelligent Robots, Expert Systems, etc.
