How to Disinfect Operation Theatre after COVID-19 Patient Surgery

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the entire surgical procedures to almost a standstill. As the Corona pandemic is going to take a lot of time before it is brought under control surgical procedures cannot be postponed indefinitely. In our video, we have shown that will be operating in COVID patients and it will require a special precaution as how to sterilise the operating instruments. This video demonstrates sanitisation of Operation Theatre after a surgery has been done on a COVID-19 positive patient. The COVID Era situation mandates very strict protocol for sanitisation of operation theatre after COVID-19 procedure. All standard protocol including the use of PPE by all the personnel inside OT is to be followed. Used instruments are dipped in 1% Sodium Hypochlorite for 30 minutes followed by washing under running water. Small spillage in Operation Theatre is drenched in 1% Sodium Hypochlorite for 20min. The current COVID-19 pandemic has gripped the entire world putting our health care system at great stress and unimaginable demand. All surgical procedures on all suspected COVID-19 patient have been postponed until confirmed infection clearance. But there are emergencies which cannot be deferred. We have to gear up to face the challenge. SGT medical college and Research Institute has taken measures to fight the pandemic. We have created a scenario of acute abdomen in a COVID positive patient and showed how it should be tackled.
